Our Adopted Kids...

Over the past several years, we have "adopted" several very special kids that are now a part of our family.

Below left: We recently adopted this very handsome Sheltie "Elliott" from the Fincastle League for Animal Protection. Below right: Elliott is now a big brother to our other Sheltie "Cassie."

Deb has a weakness for kitties...if you've been to see us, you've met Count, Meenah and Lucy who are the barn (actually, heated tackroom) kitties we adopted while living in Texas. But there is plenty of love and kitty food for these three, too!

Below left: "Felix and Oscar" are two orange neutered males that we adopted from the Rockbrige SPCA. Below middle: "Dusty Blue Cat" or "Dusty" is a grey neutered male that we adopted from a client. Below right: Meet "George" our newest adoption...from the Natural Bridge Animal Hospital. As you can see, life is tough at Amethyst Acres!!

Our biggest adopted kid by far is "Elmer". Elmer is an 18h Shire gelding who, along with several other Shire and Shire/Thoroughbred crosses, was rescued from a "kill lot" by a good friend and client. He is a big horse with a huge heart and a gentle soul who is now Deb's riding partner. Below left: Elmer and Deb. Below right: Out for a trail ride with Pat and Che.
